In 2003, I got involved with my two great friends from College, Shawn Kelly and Bobby Beck to start teaching together. We had little idea what it was going to be or how we were going to make it. But we knew what we wanted and still went for it. So we started Animation Mentor. Over the course of the following two years and having full-time jobs (not easy ones either) we worked really hard on trying to create a strong curriculum, classes and a community style in our School that would fit what we thought would be our ideal learning environment. We tried to include the positive things from our personal and professional experiences. We also put together a pretty amazing staff team that pretty much made the School be what it is today. Animation Mentor opened its doors to students in the Spring of 2005. While it has not been an easy road and there has been many ups and downs, I would not change the experience for anything.
The best part for me has been the community that's been created around the World through the School. One that is a positive one and that encourages and motivates students one another. Working in the industry since 1998, it's not easy to stay motivated or even inspired so the School and the students have kept me and many people involved pretty humbled. So from here I want to thank my partners, our amazing staff team and our community of students for making this experience an unforgettable one.
